Trails

The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen have trails that spread throughout the Township.  Some of the trails are owned and maintained by the Township while others are looked after by various clubs or organizations.  Some trail systems require permits for the use of their trails while others are free to use in all seasons.  Below is a list of organizations and clubs that have trail systems within the Township.

Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance (EOTA)

The Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance provide outdoor recreation and adventure in Eastern Ontario. The trail networks are multi-use and spread from the Bay of Quinte north to Algonquin Park with a parking area and a trailhead that is connected to the trail network.  The parking area and trailhead is located in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen at north end of Peterborough County Road 50.  There are endless ways for you and your family to discover Ontario's history, natural environment and rural communities.  A trail pass is required to use the Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance trail's.

Havelock and District Snowmobile Club

The Havelock and District Snowmobile Club have some of the most exciting trails you will find anywhere and they would love to share them with you.  Their club is a proud member of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs. They would like to welcome all snowmobilers and visitors to the Havelock-Belmont-Methuen area. They ask that you consider becoming a member and enjoying the benefits of belonging to one of the first and oldest organized snowmobile clubs in Ontario.  It is the law in Ontario for recreational sleds using Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trails to have and display a valid Ontario Snowmobile Trail Permit.

Mathison Conservation Area

The Mathison Property is a 250 acre natural area of scenic forests and wetlands located north of the Village of Havelock. It has 1.6 kilometers of multi-use trails for walking and biking use and 1.1 kilometers of walking only trails. This property was graciously donated to the Township by John Mathison in 2001 for conservation, education and recreation purposes.  No permit is required to use the trails located on this property.

Peterborough County Trails ATV Club

The Peterborough County Trails ATV Club was formerly known as the Havelock and District ATV Club. They welcome riders of all skills levels, from brand new to experienced riders of both ATV's and side by sides. Their guided rides feature comfortable speeds, frequent stops and beautiful destinations within Peterborough County.  The club promotes safety and camaraderie to ensure everyone can enjoy recreational riding.  A membership is required to use the Peterborough County Trails ATV Club's trails.
