Who does this impact?

The Peterborough County Official Plan impacts a variety of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen stakeholders, including:

1.      Residents: Will be directly affected by land use decisions, zoning regulations, and policies related to development, housing, transportation, and community services.

2.      Property Owners: Will be impacted by land use designations, zoning by-laws, and any restrictions or permissions related to the development or use of their properties.

3.      Developers and Builders: Must comply with the Official Plan's policies when proposing new developments, subdivisions, or projects. It guides them on where and how they can build within the county.

4.      Lower Tier Municipalities: The County’s Official Plan serves as a guiding document for municipalities within the county, helping them align local planning policies with broader regional goals.

5.      Businesses: Existing and potential businesses will be impacted by policies related to land use, commercial zoning, industrial development, and infrastructure. These policies can influence where and how businesses can operate.

6.      Environmental and Conservation Groups: Organizations focused on environmental protection or natural heritage conservation are influenced by policies that protect water resources, wildlife habitats, and green spaces.

7.      Transportation and Infrastructure Agencies: Agencies responsible for managing transportation systems and public utilities are affected by land use planning that considers transportation corridors, infrastructure expansion, and future growth.

8.      Indigenous Communities: Policies in the Official Plan might impact Indigenous communities or lands, particularly if there are considerations related to land preservation, cultural heritage, or natural resource management.

In essence, anyone involved in land use, development, housing, transportation, business, or conservation within Peterborough County is impacted by the Official Plan.
