What is the Mathison Property & Parks Committee?
The Mathison Property and Parks Committee is a Committee of Council established for the purpose of advising Council of recommended options for enhancing the Township owned green space properties as a means to encourage residents and visitors to use the Mathison Property and Township parks for recreational (i.e. walking, biking, bird watching etc.) and educational purposes.
Where is the Mathison Property located?
The Mathison Property is a 250 acre natural area of scenic forests and wetlands located north of the Village of Havelock. It has 1.6 kilometers of multi-use trails for walking and biking use and 1.1 kilometers of walking only trails. This property was graciously donated to the Township by John Mathison in 2001 for conservation, education and recreation purposes. No permit is required to use the trails located on this property.
